SEBI Validated UPI Payment

A SEBI-validated UPI ID is a secure payment address verified through the SEBI-mandated mechanism to help investors confirm that they are paying the correct registered intermediary.

When paying through a UPI app, investors should check for the SEBI validation indicators, including the valid handle and the white thumbs-up icon inside a green triangle, where supported by the payment app.

SEBI Check is an investor-protection tool that helps investors verify an intermediary's UPI ID by scanning the QR code or entering the UPI ID manually.

The transaction limit is ₹5 lakhs per transaction, with a cumulative daily limit of ₹10 lakhs. Investors can start using the new SEBI-validated UPI ID for investor payments from October 1, 2025, as per the SEBI circular dated June 11, 2025.

Investors can choose their preferred mode of payment, including UPI, IMPS, NEFT, RTGS or cheque. However, if an investor chooses UPI for payment to a registered intermediary, the payment should be made through the new UPI ID allocated to the intermediary.

Check that the UPI ID shows the intermediary name and category abbreviation before @, the @valid handle after @, the bank name after the handle, and the SEBI validation indicator shown by the payment app.

No. The new UPI IDs are for registered intermediaries. Investors can continue to use their existing UPI IDs.

The secure validated UPI ID uses the same banking channel as other UPI payments. In case of any technical difficulty, investors should contact their respective bank.
